From 1st October 2017, Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) has joined together to create a new Foundation Trust which has been named Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

An expanding tertiary referral centre for gynae-oncology, gynae-urology, endometriosis, IVF and obstetrics, we’re part of a long-established hospital, well regarded for its excellence in providing women's healthcare. As a Leader and key member of our committed and talented team, you’ll need the ability to work flexibly to support service level requirements and to adapt to changes in the NHS. It’s also vital that you’re a team player with a professional focus on service delivery and a demonstrable commitment to high quality. ODP qualified or an experienced nurse with a relevant track record, your theatre practitioner training and skills should include at least two of the following – Anaesthetics, Recovery and Scrub. In return for your dedication, you’ll benefit from in-house training to develop your core competencies, together with opportunities to undertake further courses in support of your ongoing development.

Candidates must have Band 6 experience and wish to progress to the next level within their career. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a high standard of care, whilst ensuring patient safety, dignity and confidentiality. This is an extremely busy department so the ability to work under pressure and maintain a good sense of humour is essential. The ideal candidate must be flexible and highly motivated with strong leadership skills. Proven up to date experience of working in Theatre with relevant qualifications required. Reporting to the Theatre Matron, the successful candidate will be able to: • work with the Theatre Matron to lead a team of theatre staff to provide a high standard     of individualised patient care as part of the clinical team Your duties will include: • developing excellent working relationships with staff, Consultants and other members of the MDT • providing effective motivation, monitoring and management of the theatre team • assisting in ensuring the Department’s Key Performance Indicator and financial targets are achieved

  • clinical governance and education • demonstrating the effective monitoring and management of all resources available to the Department including operational budgets, workforce planning, efficiency of theatre lists, etc. • providing effective management of any records which are required to be kept in accordance with Department and legislative needs • building a solid working relationship with the Matron, Lead Nurse and Directorate Manager The ideal candidate will have: • a strong clinical background in Obstetrics and Gynaecology/general surgery/ anaesthetics
  • good knowledge of clinical governance and education • demonstrable personnel management skills, knowledge and experience • comprehensive understanding of relevant clinical standards • excellent communication skills • sound computer skills and knowledge • a registered member with the NMC or HPC • ENB 998 or equivalent
