An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced Senior Anatomical Pathology Technician to work in our HTA and UKAS accredited Mortuary.

Manchester Foundation trust was formed on 1st October 2017 and includes both Wythenshawe Hospital and Oxford Road Campus. The successful applicant would be primarily based on the Wythenshawe site and qualified with the level 4 diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technician with evidence of active CPD. Membership of AAPT would be advantageous.   

The Mortuary at the Wythenshawe Hospital site deals with approximately 1700 deaths per annum, undertaking 500 post mortems including Coronial, Bariatric and High risk Patients.

You will be working alongside trainee, qualified & senior Anatomical Pathology Technicians, Junior Medical staff, Consultant Pathologists and other service users. The role will also include participating in the on call rota working closely with our bereavement team.

Suitable candidates will be expected to have detailed knowledge and experience of all mortuary procedures. They must demonstrate composure under pressure, be compassionate, enthusiastic and be able to deal with the bereaved. 

You will also be expected to take on additional duties within the department ensuring service delivery is maintained at all times and assisting the senior team e.g. with on-going management and training requirements alongside contributing to achieving quality objectives and improvements.
