From 1st October 2017, Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) has joined together to create a new Foundation Trust which has been named Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic and forward thinking Senior Specialist Physiotherapist with excellent clinical skills to join our regional Intermediate Neurological Rehabilitation Unit. 

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is the leading Trust for teaching, research and specialist services in the North West of England.

The unit is part of the Greater Manchester Neurological Rehabilitation Network which provides a whole-system neuro-rehabilitation service across Greater Manchester. The multi professional team consists of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists and Rehabilitation Assistants. The post would ideally suit someone with proven experience in a clinical role.

You should have proven practical skills in neurological physiotherapy, with competent respiratory skills. You should have evidence of acute neurological management and rehabilitation skills, multidisciplinary working and experience of complex discharge planning within the NHS. You will take a lead role in the advanced assessment and treatment of a variety of complex patients. 

You should be able to demonstrate highly effective communication skills and an ability to liaise with individuals at all levels of the organisation. This role requires support to the Team leaders in operational management and strategic development of the whole team.  Your ability to promote interprofessional working and uphold our philosophy of team work is critical. You will also be involved in the development of the services across the region through the operational development network (ODN) to ensure patients receive high quality and equitable rehabilitation.  Multi-disciplinary working within the Trust is well-established and students are accepted on placement from several training schools

You should also be able to work autonomously in undertaking and leading projects and tasks that are key to the development of the department and demonstrate strong organisational and leadership skills to compliment your advanced physiotherapy knowledge and skills.

Allied Health Professions Directorate is a dynamic and forward thinking team of dedicated therapists who actively engage in teaching. Training and on-going continual professional development, with opportunities for further education and personal development with regular appraisal using the KSF, personal learning objectives and supervision from the Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist will form part of your support and development in your role within the team and the wider AHP department.
